Courses:
The Deerpark - with its receptive greens and strategic bunkering, impresses even the most experienced professionals. Indeed this is the course that hosted the Irish Open in 2001 and 2002.
The Belvelly - a Par 72 course stretching over 7121 yards from the championship tees, includes the new nine-hole layout also developed by Jeff Howes.
This course incorporates some unique and exciting features, intended to challenge even the most competitive golfer yet remaining perfectly loyal to the traditional style, values and playability that characterise Fota Island Golf Club as a whole.
The 16th hole promises to be one of the features of this exciting new challenge – a 435yard Par 4 requires an accurately placed tee shot where finding the fairway is at a premium, allowing those without the burden of a faint heart to take on the daunting approach over an old quarry to a small target.
The Barryscourt - a Par 73 course, also incorporates the new nine-hole layout. With 7362 yards to be negotiated, a great opportunity to produce a good score beckons on this course which is characterised by gently undulating greens - your putting game will be examined throughout your round! What’s more the newly designed Par 3 8th hole – cleverly guarded by a variety of hazards – will reward those who possess the advantage of an accurate tee-shot.
No matter which course you choose, one thing is for certain, at Fota you’ll always be guaranteed true championship golf in true championship style.
"...it's time for a breath of true golfing air... Fota eschews the Schwarzenegger-like brutality in favour of guile and subtlety. Depending on how you "see" the shot in your mind, you could be playing any of three different clubs. In other words, it makes you think. It's real golf"- Golf Digest (U.S.A)
